A fraternal organization founded in 1867 to promote the economic and political well-being of farming communities, the National Grange of the Order of Patrons of Husbandry is America's oldest agricultural advocacy group. Today, there are more than 160,000 members in over 2,100 chapters throughout the United States. The California State Grange was founded in 1873. The Big Sur Grange was founded in 1948, and is affiliated with the state Grange.
